This is real good for shaving my dog down with the blade that comes with it. She's part poodle and has very thick fur. But this is my second Oster clipper and as with the first one I cannot use any other blade with it. They attach but they don't clip anything, it's like trying to use a butter knife on my dog's fur. I've tried brand new blades, expensive ones made by Oster, different sizes, they just will not work for me with this particular clipper. You might have a different outcome but this is my experience. So I really like the machine for shaving her down in summer, I can't really use it for anything else. I think it's a reasonable price. The first one I had lasted about 9-10 years.
