It cleans as well as I thought that it might. You don't need to use extra amounts, (like most people think should be done.) One cup is enough per full load, half a cup for half a load, maybe a little more. It's great for the environment since it's bio-degradeable. the after wash turns into an inert material that mixes with the earth well. The smell. isn't so strong, but that's ok for me. Sometimes I use bleach also or oxiclean, which would kill the aroma. I like it because it is sooooo good for the environment too.
