Limited motion detection distance

It claims a 12-15 foot "max" motion sensor, but actually only detects motion within 2 or 3 feet. It's certainly bright, 3 somewhat adjustable panels, and much smaller than their pictures imply (each of the 3 panels is about the size of my palm). As advertised, it goes off in about a minute if you're not moving much, but turns on immediately when you are close and move. I planned to buy several but started with just one. It's good enough for one place in my house, but I won't buy any more.
