A differential cell counter is a laboratory instrument used to manually count and classify different types of blood cells observed under a microscope. It is commonly used in hematology laboratories as part of a complete blood count (CBC) analysis to determine the relative proportions of various types of white blood cells (leukocytes) present in a blood sample. In addition to counting the total number of white blood cells, a differential cell counter enables the classification and quantification of different cell types based on their morphology, size, staining characteristics, and other features observed under the microscope.
