The "Why" of Jewish Discrimination

I never understood the discrimination against the Jews, particularly in the early 20th century in Europe. It was real, but why? People talking about the discrimination but never the "why". I contacted a Jewish friend who put me in touch with a rabbi who recommended Capitalism and the Jews, by Jerry Z. Muller. Mr. Muller did an excellent job of documenting the history and the reason, or "why" of it. One of the factors was the mindset of many that a trade was a zero sum game and that one wins and one loses. Trade is not a zero sum game and is highly refuted in current times. Most trades are win/win. The other issue is usury. The Christian Bible contains passages basically calling interest on money loaned a sin. It is a mistaken view that the lender doesn't "work" for a "profit", or money earned in the form of interest. It was not considered a proper endeavor for Christians, but not one restricted by Jews. The one subject that Mr. Muller fell short was explaining the political phenomenon where Jews prosper under a capitalistic society, but will vote in majority numbers for a leftist society which includes such things as socialism or communism. If the "why" of things interest you, this will be worth your time. It isn't that the reasons behind discrimination are correct, or justified, but is what it is.
