Humorous, but violent, take on the gangster genre

Sylvester Stallone, in one of his best roles, plays Dwight Manfredi, a member of a mob family who upon being released from a 25-year stint in prison is exiled to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Upon arriving in the city he sets up his own racket and becomes romantically involved with a woman who works for the ATF. He confronts several villains, including members of his former mob family when they begin to turn on him. The show was created by Taylor Sheridan, known for his Yellowstone franchise. But unlike Yellowstone and its prequels 1883 and 1923, Tulsa King has a lighter tone and more humor. The show does have some brutal violence and foul language but does not go dark. The show is also a little offbeat and does not seem to take itself too seriously. The show is worthwhile for those who enjoy a humorous take on the gangster/mob family genre.

Tulsa Kings a great series

Tulsa Kings season 1 was great. The storyline was good, and the cast was excellent. Stallone plays a wise and tough guy mob boss. I was not sure about Tulsa, Oklahoma would work as a mob city. But, it turned out to work fine. I will definitely recommend this series to watch. It's funny and has great drama and action.

Great new series, amazing work by Stallone. Well written and acted. Love the entire cast. Funny dark comedy with lots of interesting characters and plot turns. Season two is even better, hoping season three can keep up the momentum.
