Key item features

  • The zero clearance concept is simple: the blade cuts its own perfectly sized slot by being raised through a machinable blank insert
  • Most inserts are 1/2 In. thick, high-density phenolic laminate, with a bonded-melamine surface
  • They offer superior rigidity, flatness, durability, and low friction and should not be confused with inferior HD/PP inserts
  • They feature leveling screws, side and end adjustment screws for a vibration-free fit, rear safety pin for lift-out protection, and a pre-cut blade bottom pocket that provides clearance for fully retracted blades and bevel cuts
  • Table saw insert for DeWalt DW744, DW745 and DW746
  • Significantly reduces saw noise, dust, chip-out, and splintering

Perfect fit.

This is an excellent insert for the Dewalt table saw. The only downside is that you cannot use the ricing knife, and would need to add an aftermarket one. I haven't run into any issues (without the riving knife) but know I am not practicing best safety while ripping. The insert is heavy and stiff. It adjusts nicely for a perfectly flat fit and remains in place. I bought two, one for 1/8" kerf blade and one for dado blade.

A great upgrade for my table saw

Used this product a few times over the last few weeks on my contractor grade Dewalt DW745 table saw. This saw has been getting fantastic reviiews for years. Mine is roughly 10 years old. I use it every day and so far, not a single malfunction. It is built like a tank. That being said, the throat on this unit is not the best as it is not 100% flat. It has a small hump that is in my view a factory defect. The adjustment screws around the throat do indeed raise and lower the throat which helps but they cannot get rid of the hump. This causes cuts that are not as straight as they should be. Contractor grade table saws are not designed to be as precise as stationary saws. It is a different price point and the user is usually willing to sacrifice precision for the convenience of portability. That being said, this is my only table saw and sometimes a very accurate cut is what I need so I ordered this zero clearance throat from Grizzly to address the issue. It performed exactly as advertised. I now have a perfectly flat table saw top and I can make cuts that are narrower than a 1/4" with help from my GRR-Ripper push blocks. I do recommend this zero clearance throat from Grizzly. It will likely last for many years without any maintenance while extending the usability of your saw and making it a lot safer by minimizing the chance of kick backs. And what is more important than safety with power tools?
