Read the Directions a Few Times - Exacting
The directions are exact, follow them. The one thing that wasn't so straightforward in the language was at main beam steps. It took reading multiple times and thinking through it to figure out that there would be 3 pieces of lumber at the wall, and that lags go into the first cut pieces to the wall and then lags with washers also goes into the sleeved lumber into the cut pieces.

Great looking pergola.
I built this pergola on an existing concrete patio and it looks great. Note, in addition to the pergola kit, you will need to purchase the wood (around $100 to $140) and mounting hardware for the posts, if needed. The kit went together smoothly. I did have a pretty bad crack/break on one of the longer stringers on top. It was the only damage on the product. I think it was probably shipped from the factory that way as no other pieces were broken. I didn't bother returning as I had to put it up quickly. The build feels solid albeit the pergola can sway a bit if pushed hard enough. Overall looks are great. Definitely better than spending a ton of cash on having a contractor do this work.
