I like the convenience of having smaller cans of tomatoes since it's often difficult to use (2) 28oz. cans. when (1) can is insufficient. These are pretty consistent in quality all thru the cans I've used so far. I Do Recommend these for Chili, BBQ Sauces, Lasagna etc. but they must be thoroughly cooked to taste right. (IMHO)

Top quality

Good shelf life. I tend to like the fire roasted for most uses. I always add garlic anyways. Hunts is a first rate brand but try the new GV version too. There is no practical reason to buy imported tomato sauces. Buy American, and be sure to recycle the can and paper label.

My favorite brand of Diced Tomato

These are my favorite diced tomatoes. I don't use diced tomatoes in a lot of things, but when I do, I count on this brand to give me the bright pop of tomato I'm looking for. There've been times I've found a great deal on other brands of diced tomato, but I prefer the fire-roasted from Hunts %26 have always come back. Now I don't even bother with other brands since I've been disappointed too many times. My favorite use for these is this recipe. SO GOOD! You're welcome :) BACON SHRIMP PASTA Ingredients 8 ounces Angel hair pasta 8 slices bacon, diced 1 pound medium to large shrimp, peeled and deveined 4 garlic clove, minced salt and pepper 1 (14-ounce) can petite diced tomatoes, drained 1 cup heavy cream 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese 1/2 cup freshly shredded Parmesan cheese 2 cups baby spinach Instructions 1) Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook angel hair according to package directions. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water and then drain the pasta. 2) Cook bacon in a large nonstick skillet until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate. 3) Pour all but 1 tablespoon of grease out of skillet. Place skillet over medium-high heat and cook shrimp and garlic in the bacon grease until shrimp turn pink. Remove with a slotted spoon and place in a bowl. Set aside. 4) To the skillet, add diced tomatoes, heavy cream, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 3 to 5 minutes to thicken some. Turn heat to low and stir in mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese until melted. 5) Add spinach, angel hair pasta, and shrimp/ garlic mixture. Stir to mix. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Stir in bacon. If sauce is too thick, add in some of the reserved pasta water. Serve with additional Parmesan cheese. NOTE: I freeze the diced tomato I don't use, so it's handy for other uses. Also, to make it even faster, I often use a TBSP store-bought bacon fat %26 bacon crumbles instead of cooking bacon. Bacon is expensive these days %26 you may already have bacon crumbles in your fridge. Enjoy!
