Vestil Drum Deheader Model# D-Head1

I've on used on one drum so far and deheader did a great job. Drum was 16 gallon so wasn't sure how it would work on smaller drum. Inside was smooth with no burs.

Not what we expected

Does not open all drums. After 5 times around with considerable sweat equity, still nothing similar to a lid to pound out. Returned item.

Worst tool I ever purchased

The concept is the tool would cut the inner vertical edge of the rim like the newer side cutting can openers. Like a tubing cutter. First of all, don't even think of using a ratchet. It would take an eternity. You have to use a half inch drive electric impact driver. I have to dehead heavy gauge steel drums that spray foam comes in. Maybe this tool would work on lighter material. I go around the rim for at least six turns, which takes forever. Then I beat on it with a sledge hammer. If I am lucky, the steel is scored enough that it will eventually tear. Very dissatisfied.
