Penstemon Red Ridinghood has long stems of bright red, tubular flowers that bloom from late spring to early fall. It grows 24- to 32-inches tall and thrives in full sun. It is tolerant of hot, dry conditions and won’t have to be watered often. Penstemon Riding Hood is striking in any perennial or cutting garden, especially when planted in a mass. It attracts pollinators. Plant these flowers together in groups, in garden beds, for instant color. You can also mix them with other annuals and perennials to create beautiful spaces in your landscape or unique container garden creations for porches and patios. For healthy plants that will bloom all season, water until plants are established. Then simply water as needed. Feed plants with an all purpose fertilizer in spring and fall at the base of the plant.
