The Complete Sherlock Holmes Collection

The original group of Basil Rathbone Holmes adaptations are quite charming if a bit all over the place (most are not faithful adaptations, all but the first two are modernized, some have better scripts than others, etc ). The 1930s/40s mystery atmosphere, the Nigel Bruce broad caricature of Watson, and the many veteran character actors appearing throughout the films gives them lots of vintage Hollywood charm. This blu ray set includes transfers that date from 1990s-era restorations of the films. They are definitely not up to the standards of modern catalog title transfers (there are LOTS of scratches and marks visible throughout) but this is likely the best quality presentations we shall ever see of these films on physical media.
