I priced lids comparable to these and found the Ball brand to be less expensive and equal in quality. I was finding that my existing metal lids, when placed on my ferments, would rust. I'm also trying to avoid plastics. These Ball lids work great! The seal is thick, and also removable which allows me to soak it in vinegar to remove any lingering smells picked up from the jar contents. The seal allows for a tighter seal than the plastic lids. The stainless steel will never rust! They wash in the dishwasher just fine! I plan on replacing all of my reusable lids with these. And I found them in store which was a big plus. Superior quality!
