2001 Harley Davidson Softail Installation Summary After my recent trip to Biketoberfest in Florida, I saw several vendors selling much more expensive kits. I'm glad I found this kit on Walmart.com! It was easy to install. Only took about a half hour. The harness they give you plugged right in to my existing wiring harness. I chose not to hook up the USB charging port or the volume thumb knob, could have...just didn't feel it was necessary. The speakers mounted quickly to my handlebars. I only had to run one cable to the wiring harness (which was routed up underneath the gas tank. I put a medium sized leather bag on my handlebars (behind my windshield) and put the amplifier and all the cabling inside of it. There is plenty of room for my iPod to go in there. After adjusting my iPod's volume over the sound of my Samson Street Sweepers...I have no problem hearing the music. It's clear and very loud. I will be installing the volume thumb knob soon because not all the mp3's I have on my iPod have the same recorded volume...some are softer than other recordings on there. The thumb knob is about a 3 minute job to do...now I understand why they provide it. I would absolutely recommend this to a friend and I already have! Ride safe!
