You may think I'm being hypercritical by saying this. You're probably going to feel like I'm overthinking things here... This stove uses less-than-ideal wire size, and can overheat if left on medium to high settings for longer cook times (25 minutes or more). This is a fire risk. I recommend short cook times, and never leave it unattended. Babysit it and feel the wire at the plug regularly. If it ever gets hot enough it feels uncomfortable, don't wait, just unplug it. With enough caution, it's relatively safe to use for short cooking times even on high heat. I'm a former Electronics Assembler with deep personal study into electrical engineering. My particular copy needed modification to be stable. I had to disassemble it and flatten the heating coil with pliers, and reseat everything to make it stable. The bottom plate cover seems to have been slightly too big. It uses one through-bolt to mount the bottom plate cover to the top. And because it wasn't formed well, the corners of the bottom plate cover would slip over the edge of the top portion of the stove and become unstable. But with proper adjustment by reforming/bending the proper shape, it is now stable. I'd feel comfortable putting up to a 3-quart pot on it, but nothing larger than that; ever. And, only after I reassembled it properly. Buy this, if you or someone close to you likes to tinker/modify/improve things and likes to ensure saftey and functionality. Do not buy if you want or need things to be completely safe and functional out of the box every time. I use mine to boil water for instant coffee every morning. And sometimes to make oatmeal.

These burners are adequate it's very basic with no frills . Should work well for small pans or skillets.
