Key item features

  • Pyrethrum is a gorgeous perennial plant that blooms for several weeks in early summer, with glittering mixed colors hovering on slender stems above the leaves. It forms a compact, spectacular landscape with rich fragrance and fern leaves, which is decorative for most of the year.

Pyrethrum ovules contain pyrethroids, which are one of the raw materials for making insecticides. When mosquitoes and flies come into contact with this colorless, sticky liquid contained in the flowers, they will be paralyzed, poisoned and die.

In summer, placing a few pots of pyrethrum on the windowsill and in the corridor can not only be ornamental, but also repel insects.

Collect the flowers of pyrethrum, dry them, mix them with sawdust, spices, etc. to make fumigants, and after lighting them, once the flying mosquitoes come into contact with it, they will be poisoned and killed. This fumigant is an excellent natural "mosquito coil".

Pyrethrum seeds are most commonly started indoors 6 " 8 weeks prior to the final frost and then transplanted either out. Sowing can also be done outdoors in a prepared soil bed. Sow seeds on the soil surface and lightly sprinkle with loose garden soil. 2-3 seeds per plant.

Orders under $10 will be shipped USPS First Class without tracking as this service begins at $4 .25 - $4.71 with the Postal Service.
