    • A. No training wheel. It's for junior not for the beginner. It doesn't have a coaster brake (foot brake) which is safe for the beginner. It has two caliper brakes (hand brake) instead just like normal bike. The rider should be familiar with the brakes and have enough grip power for that.

My son needed a new bike and I promised him one when he finished Kindergarten. He had a beat up 12 inch bike that was way too small. So, 18" was the next size up. He is 48.5 inches tall with sandals on and it fits him perfectly. It's high enough off the ground so that he does not pedal his knees into his chin and it's long enough so he does not look like a clown riding a teeny tiny bike in a circus. LOL!! The styling is cool enough that all his friends flock around to exclaim over its awesomeness. He loves the green pegs that go on the front rim, as it reminds him of his brother's Mongoose bike. I like the white rims as I've only ever seen black or silver. The bike is nice and heavy, not flimsy at all, and is very sturdy when put together. I consider this a fantastic buy and hope to get at least 2 years out of it.

Well my CASA foster child angel this year is a 6 year old boy. On his list of Christmas wishes was: “if you could have one thing that would truly make you happy what would it be?” It said bike. I myself, never having had kids, had to do a lot of research on bicycle sizing. That was followed by a lot of hunting and looking for that right bike, not too big and not too small. A bike not only stylish but a bike that would provide years and years of adventurous and safe travels. I believe this is the bike. In putting it together I was amazed at how well it was constructed. How strong overall it looked. It went together easily with basic hand tools and has adjustments to grow along with the rider. All and all it looks like a very nice well built bike.

This bike has a awesome look to it. My oldest son turned 7 and this was his present. Its a great step above his old bike. It has the hand brakes but also has the pedal brakes which he is used to. It will be a nice transition fro his smaller bike with just pedal brakes. Had a little trouble with the assembly. I could not get the front wheel into the front fork. Ended up the front forks were bent into each other, possibly from shipping or maybe from factory. Had to pull the front forks apart for the wheel to able to slide in. Other that that is was pretty easy to assemble. You need standard wrenches and allen wrenches to assenble. Hand brakes needed to be adjusted which is easy to do by loosening one nut and pulling wire thru. Overall great bike, my son loves it!!

We bought this bike assembled. Great looks, good quality, low price, relatively lightweight (but solid construction). Our only complaint is the pedals do not have a lot of grip on them. Other than that, we are very pleased. The other neighborhood kids like it so much they ask our son if they can ride his new bike!!!

Although this is a boy bike my daughter picked it out and loves it. It is very difficult to find an attractive well built 18" bike for a mature vertically challenged child. My daughter is 8 and we have the seat set at the lowest possible setting. The price of this bike at other stores is over $100. The service in the stores bike department was incredible, like an actual bike shop. We went to two Walmart stores. The first store the sales person warned us that sometimes it's hard for the shorter children to reach the hand brakes on the 20" BMX style bikes (my daughter wasn't with us). I took my daughter to get sized at the second store and the bike mechanic came out and made adjustments to the 20" bike to see if it could work. In the end they were honest that she just wasn't tall enough for the bike. That is when we saw this bike. My daughter learned to ride without training wheels on this bike. There are some great tips on helping a child learn how to ride a bike without training wheels online at REI. I will repost if it doesn't hold up but it appears to be very well built.

The bike looks better in person than it does in the photo, I thought it was an awesome bike to give as a gift to my 5year old brother but was appalled by the assembly process of this bike and is the main reason why I gave it two stars. As mentioned in a couple of the reviews here, it seems that the front tire fitting into the fork is a common issue. I had to force and pull the fork handles apart to finally get it to fit. I ended up scratching some parts and was disappointed that I had to present it this way. The Bike itself is great and I think the better option would be to buy this in store preassembled. I highly suggest not to order this item, there's a high chance you may encounter what I think is a common manufacture flaw.

Bought this bike for my son who is almost 6 years and he loves it! My husband did all the assembly in a very short amount of time. The only thing I was disappointed with was the brakes...in the product description, it said it had only hand brakes, but as my son rode it we realized it also has the coaster brakes when he pedals backward. Overall, we all really love the bike...very sturdy and seems like it will last a long time!

Poor QA in Manufacture of Bike

We bought this bike for our son's birthday. He was very excited to get it in the mail. After getting most of the parts assembled (with some level of difficulty - luckily we have some special tools to make the job feasible), we discovered the main fork in the front was sloping inward - so much that the wheel could not be fit into that space (off by as much as 1"). The bent fork (being that it is such thick metal) surely was not bent in transit, but was probably defective before it left the factory. Buying a bike online has its perils. Beware of a low-end bicycle that you need to assemble yourself - a lot is left to chance. I guess if you're mentally prepared and you don't mind the potential frustration, then it may be a worthwhile value. We ended up returning the store and picking up a pre-assembled bike from the floor. Luckily, there was something appropriate in stock (different brand).
