THIS IS THE WRONG PART NUMBER

GE lists the wrong part number for the bulb identified in the schematic as Diagram Number 282. The bulb is actually a G8 20W 120V Halogen Bulb. Trust me. I ordered what they referenced on this schematic and it did not fit. I then found a website where someone said it was wrong and what the correct part number is. The correct part number for Diagram Number 282 is WB25X10019 Microwave Halogen Bulb; 20W, 120V

GE gets it wrong on microwave bulbs

I have a GE Advantum microwave which originally has a 12 volt halogen bulb with a G8 base plug. GE shows the microwave halogen bulb WB36X10177 (Interior light) as original (OEM) which was replaced by WB36X10163; the problem is these two bulbs have a G4 base (connector to plug), and they are also 120 volt. The OEM bulb has a G8 base connector (not compatible with G4) AND it's a 12 volt (not 120 v). According to GE customer service they discontinued the 12 volt bulbs, so you would need to REWIRE the the microwave to accept 120 volt bulbs, AND change the plug for the bulb to take a G4 base light bulb.

Light Bulb Description

On the parts list, it is model WB36X10163, 10W, 12V, but in the owner's manual, it is WB36X10213, 20W, 120V. You can't swap out a high-voltage lamp for a low-voltage lamp, and visa-versa. My two under-microwave lights went out about six years ago and now, my inside cabin light went out. Because of the two model descriptions, I had to remove this lamp before ordering. I am the original owner of this microwave and the lamp says OSRAM 64415 12V 10W, so I moved one of the under-microwave lights and the 12V lamp works for inside the microwave cabin. The lamp does have a G4 base, not G8. I highly recommend to inspect the dead lamp before ordering a replacement!
