I used yellow zinc construction screws and it looks really cool with the different colors inside a built-in I'm making out of an old wood panelling wall I put back up. The screws it comes with might be fine for softer wood, but they didn't work as well as the screws that came with the corner braces. The plates are sturdy and if you use masking tape to hold them in place, they're easier to use.

These are great to have on hand because they are so versatile . You can use them for all kinds of stuff in a pinch. I have used similar sizes for supporting wire shelves when there was not enough support on the back. I have used them to reposition my shower caddy on the opposite wall in the shower.
