This is a true Garden Pergola. It is not your typical Pergola. It seems to be specifically designed for a garden and allows maximum amount of light to shine through for your sun loving plants, plenty of room to grow upwards and around for your vine plants, and it is a solid structure to put light weight shade cloths over during the extreme heat to protect your garden This Pergola is not meant to bear a lot of weight, so it will feel light compared to other Pegolas that are designed to provide shade. If you need a super heavy, solid Pergola this is not it. The wood is a softer wood, so it can dent easier than cedar, however it is very easy to work with and still beautiful. Although, it comes already stained, it can handle sealants and protective oils very well. We put a non toxic colored sealant to protect it and it turned out beautiful. If you want a Pergola for your climbing plants, this is a wonderfully affordable option especially if you are handy and follow instructions to a tee. For best support, definitely use the supports and grounding kit provided for the post and drill into the foundation for extra security. 5 stars for Aosom for their outstanding customer service. Their customer service is much better than average. I knocked a star off, because I think it could be a little more sturdy. Still a very worth while purchase if used correctly.
