Continuous center ribs reduce noise and provide constant rubber-to-road contact to control the longitudinal forces experienced when braking.

Only lasted 17,000 miles
These were installed on my wife's Civic, and she is a tranquil driver. Were rotated every 7,000 miles, and still the front is completely worn after 17,000 miles. Now I cannot rotate them further, because the rear should always have enough thread for safety. Called Continental and was informed that ExtremeContact DW is not covered by thread wear warranty, but DWS is covered. Apparently they used extremely soft rubber to achieve good dry and wet traction. Do buy these tires if your are prepping your car for this once in a lifetime drag race. Otherwise, look elsewhere.
