Doctor Who: Complete Fifth Season (DVD)

This was by far the best season of the new series. There was not a single bad episode in the bunch. The writing, acting, cinematography and special effects were all far beyond my expectations. The special features were all pretty good. The two "Meanwhile in the Tardis..." additional scenes being the highlight, both filling the gaps between episodes and providing some hilarious moments not to be missed. The in-vision commentaries were a great idea, with some of them being very entertaining, seeing the participants interact. Some of the others, however, may as well have been audio commentaries only, as the participants sat very still and had little actual expression as they discussed the episode. Also, the fact that only six of the thirteen episodes had commentaries was more than a little disappointing but not nearly as disappointing as the lack of any deleted scenes. Those couple of slight shortcomings, however, do not keep this box set from being incredibly enjoyable and an exellent buy for any Doctor Who fan, or just any fan of great science fiction in general.
