This is an excellent affordable alternative to high-end/high cost canteliver umbrellas (ones that go for $2000-3000. After comparing all the options among many brands, here's what I found: (1) Price is exceptional, especially if you get a discount--mine was $250 off. (2) fabric is Sunbrella and I have the natural/off white which lets in alot of light but still lets you see your phone or read a book. (3) Includes a hefty and good looking cover (it has a slight pink tint compared to the linen color of the canopy but still looks good. (4) The base and hand crank are plastic but once the base is filled with playground sand and water, it won't budge and is about 450-500 lbs. Two people can still lift the base and move it around on the rear 2 wheels. The crank does have a steel connector so it seems sturdy enough. (5) The umbrella does angle well, but only in one direction, so make sure you know where you want your shade. (6) Windy days will sway the canopy. You can reduce the umbrella tension (how tightly it opens) or angle it, but close the umbrella in storms and high winds. If you place it near a wall or wooded area, you probably won't have any issues. I cover my umbrella when the storms come anyway, using a long pole (be careful to avoid scratching the powder coated finish when doing this). (7) The seams of the canopy fabric along the ribs could have been double sewn in my opinion, so that's why some people may develop rips after either lots of bad weather exposure or frequent opening/closing. It may be Sunbrella fabric, but it's not the thickness of upholstery material. I wouldn't let my kids play with it.
