While it doesn't ensure you make a straight cut, since it still goes where you yourself guide it, it sure helps a person who has trouble cutting in line with its easy-to-grip handle that doesn't bother arthritic hands and sharp blade. Used it on cardboard, foam sheets, and scrap fabric (didn't want to use it on my good fabric until I knew for sure it wouldn't damage it) so far, and got clean cuts on each material without struggling. Even a hot knife through butter isn't as smooth as this is. Definitely appreciate the safety features, ensuring fewer accidental cuttings, and especially the ones that result in blood.

I love this thing! I cut down about 30 boxes to fit into a large trash bag instead of having the haul them off myself or break them down normally which wouldn't have fit the same bag. Battery life is pretty good so far.
