PRO CARE TIPS

Make sure to soak plant with water when soil is completely dry. Check if the soil is dry before each watering.

Best tip is to stick your thumb in the soil and check for moisture.

Direct sunlight for prolonged periods can cause sunburn (not good).

Keep plants out of frost!

• silver, or woolly, torch (Cleistocactus strausii) is endemic to the mountains of Argentina and Bolivia. Its numerous erect columns appear whitish in colour because of their numerous dense spines. The plants bear narrow red flowers along the length of the stems.
• These cacti don't mind getting plenty of sun. Just be sure to watch out for sunburn marks or spots and move the plant accordingly. No stress watering; only water when the soil is dry. After a little practice, you can tell the soil is dry by feeling the weight of the pot. It is a lot heavier right after a watering.
• Its slender, erect, grey-green columns can reach a height of 3 m (9.8 ft), but are only about 6 cm (2.5 in) across. The columns are formed from around 25 ribs and are densely covered with areoles, supporting four yellow-brown spines up to 4 cm (1.5 in) long and 20 shorter white radials.
