Use These and ditch the rope.

After messing around with the rope and coated front seals, this part solved all sorts of problems. The assembly sequence of the 59A-B Ford flatheads makes installing the front crank seal an exercise is hopes and dreams - and uncertain results. This little beauty provides an elegant, sure solution. I'm sold on them and will use them on future builds.

A little tricky to install

The first one I installed was troublesome. The tension spring kept coming out even packed with grease. When running the engine during break-in it started leaking oil. The spring came out somehow and was destroyed. Got another seal and was having the same problem. I shoe shined the seat area with emery cloth then installed it on an angle to start the lip over the shaft then pushed up on the seal to allow more space for the seal to go over the shaft. I put some RTV over the outside of the seal before reinstalling the pan and timing cover. NO LEAKS !!!!!!

Easy Install-Great Fit

My first experience with this crank seal, but if the fit and ease of install are any indication, I give it good reviews. haven't run the motor yet, but this appears to be a real nice piece.
