[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use a variety of clamps for work and they all have their place. These new 24" hybrid clamps have certainly found their place in my workshop.
Here are a few reasons why I'll be using these clamps more frequently than many of my others:
- Length
While I realize the necessity for varying sizes of clamps, the 24" size allows me a lot of flexibility when working with larger projects.
- Extended reach
You can actually attach two clamps (via a screw on both of the arms) to nearly double the length! This was needed on my table project.
- Reversible for Spreader use
You can actually untwist and reverse the head of the clamp to create a spreader (hence the "hybrid" title). This is easy to do and the heads lock tightly in place with a twist!
- Clamping/Spreading force
Using the trigger will yield up to 300 pounds of clamping force, BUT if you want more force, using the screw handle will more than DOUBLE that - yielding up to 825 pounds of clamping/spreading force! The screw function is easy to tighten/loosen and helps with giving some additional granularity of control over your project.
A couple of no-brainer reminders for storage: Keep the clamp heads on the clamp! You don't want to misplace those! Some peg hooks will slide through the bar handle via the hole at the end. I choose to hang my clamps via the clamp throat (which, by the way, is 2.5 inches).
All in all I'm impressed with these clamps, and can see them lasting for generations if properly cared for.
