Does not work!

I bought this toy for my 2 yr old nephew for Christmas and it doesn't work. You have to be on top of the monkey with the wand for it to make any noise. We hid it in the closest and nothing happened until the wand was not even a foot from it. Cute monkey and great concept if it worked. Waste of money.
