Lucek, a debt collector without any remorse, repossesses anything from hospitals to churches. To Lucek, the law is sacred and meant to be scrupulously attended to. However, after an unexpected epiphany, Lucek gains an essence of true human emotion despite everyone else's doubts. Lucek's transformation towards human emotion proves to be educational as well as rewarding. The story is heart wrenching and a beautiful depiction of personal change and growth. The Debt Collector is the winner of the Golden Lions at the 30th Polish Feature Films Festival in Gdynia as well as the Polish Submission for the 2006 Academy Awards.
