A rollicking good time!

What a delight! This is like Tom Jones, meets Casanova, meets Dr Who's temperament all rolled into one. It tells the story of Casanova, both as an old man reminiscing (Peter O'Toole and Casanova's (David Tennant) point of view. Yes, it is sexy, but in a fun, lighthearted way. There's enough serious parts too. I thoroughly enjoyed it. David Tennant fans will not be disappointed!

How I Fell in Love with Giacomo Casanova

First let me start off by saying the unrated (for adults, thanks) version is the only version worth watching. The US version was cut. Cut as in castrated, castrated of it's humor, passion and sharp wit. Don't waste your time. This is the only version you want. Russell T. Davis' and Julie Gardner's production (with RTD writing) gave us Peter O'Toole and David Tennant playing the eternal lover with a fullness of humanity and depth with all his passion, foolishness, wit and pain. There isn't a single human emotion untouched in this tale. Beautifully photographed on location in Vienna and other places abroad, the script is absolute genius, the costuming a treat, even the choreography of the dances were thrilling as the crowd moved like flocks of silk clad birds. This was David Tennant's first big role; he moved from this onto his role as the titular Doctor in Doctor Who and has moved on to even more success with Broadchurch and award winning Shakespeare performances with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Hamlet and Richard II. You can also catch him in Netflix's excellent Jessica Jones as Kilgrave, rated in the Rolling Stone's top 40 all time great villains.
