This thermal viscous fan clutch is a direct OEM replacement for 1964-1999 Mercedes-Benz 300D, Sl320, S320 equipped with 3.0L I5 Diesel engines. The fan clutch mounts between the water pump pulley and the engine cooling fan blade, controlling fan engagement based on engine compartment temperature. The thermal viscous clutch uses temperature-sensitive bi-metallic coil and silicone fluid to progressively engage the cooling fan when engine temperatures rise, then disengage at lower temperatures to reduce parasitic drag and improve fuel economy.
