Well after owning approximately 20 Coast lights, (Mostly headlamps) of varying models, I can say in all honesty that Coast has not matched what other manufacturers have done. No sir! Coast has not cut corners to cut cost to raise profit margin to increase bottom lines. Since day 1, the craftsmanship and quality of they're products has been outstanding in my opinion, and down in the Bayous, Swamps and Marshes that I call my backyard! Everything is pushed to the EXTREME. I Have even had they're warranty personell ship me a two new headlamps knowing I had beat the two HL8'S IN QUESTION TO THE LIMIT AND BACK. I AND MOST PEOPLE I KNOW CAN SAY THAT WE ARE OWNERS IF THE ABSOLUTE BEST LED HEADLAMPS, KNIVES , WORK LIGHTS AND FLASHLIGHTS ON THE PLANET!!!!! WE OWN COAST!!!!!

Best headlamp ever! This thing is built like a tank and Coast stands behind their products. My old Crew HL8 quit working after 6 years of heavy use. After submitting a warranty claim I had my brand new Crew HL8 in less than 5 days. Would definitely recommend Coast products to anyone.

Great lamp!
This is a fantastic headlamp, well worth the price increase over the less expensive products. Although I cannot speak to it's longevity, it seems well assembled and the controls feel sturdy. my only complaint is it's weight, but that cannot be avoided given it's 4 AA battery pack and the features of the lamp itself. The beam mode on full power seemingly lights up the night, and flood mode works well for various tasks. I bought this because I needed some extra working light in the garage and for other tasks and the versatility is great. the fact that it takes standard AA batteries is bonus over the rechargeable version in my opinion. As previously mentioned, the weight is a bit much, and I'm thinking of getting a hard had to carry the weight better, even though I have no need for a hard hat.
