Carbon Z T-28 Great Plane, really poor hardwarwe

I purchased the T-28 after reading the excellent reviews... I did notice several pilots complained about the cheap hardware on this plane... The plane came packaged very well and I was really excited about the looks and quality of what I was seeing as I unpacked the plane... The T-28 went together well, the manual was straight forward with no issues, I always read the manual at least once before I begin assembly on all kits... I read where so many people complain about poorly written manuals, and although I have come across a few in my 26 years experience, I have found that a thorough review of the manual is usually all that is needed... I did inspect all of the control linkages and found that they did seem flimsy for the size and weight of the T-28... I decided to fly with the installed hardware since this plane was not going to be doing any hard aerobatics... On the 4th flight I was checking the controls and found that the elevator did not move, upon inspection I found the plastic cleavis pin had broken off... The plane flew fine on the previous flight... I am just thankfull that the pin broke before flight and not in flight... I do not know if the elevator got bumped in between flights, even so, it should not have snapped... I am in the process now of replacing all linkages with 2-56 threaded rods with Z-bends and metal cleavises, the wire used for the linkages is actually smaller than normal 2-56 rods, seems more suited for a park flier, definetly not a plane of this size and weight!!! The T-28 is a mighty fine plane that flys extremely well with retracts and flaps that work flawlessly... The plane flew great right out of the box, hardly no trim needed on first flight... I would definetly recommend this plane if you are looking for a easy to fly warbird with retracts and flaps that flys very scale... It also does all the basic aerobatics very well... The 4 stars on Quality and Value are due to the hardware on this plane only, otherwise it would have got 5 stars across the board... If purchased, I seriously recommend replacement of hardware unless Horizon changes installed hardware on future kits... I also have the Carbon Z Prometheus Biplane that flies incredibly, and the Carbon Z Cub which is also an outstanding plane... And both of these planes have excellent hardware, which leaves me scratching my head over this T-28 stuff... Hope to see more Carbon Z planes in the future...

QUALITY, QUALITY, QUALITY!

Incredible complete, awesome quality kit. It assembles easily into a beautiful rendition of a classic military advanced trainer. It fly's great with nearly unlimited aerobatic quality and very scale like characteristics. Horizon Hobby / E-flite has a real winner here. I can not wait until i can get a second one so that i will always have one in my stable of aircraft to fly!

Flies Amazing

I've wanted this plane for a long time. I was glad to see it came back last year. I picked it up as soon as it became available. It flies amazing and impresses at the field. I have had several of the plastic control rod clips break so I would suggest replacing them with metal ones. I'm flying it with a 6S 5000 and it's perfect. With full flaps it sometimes doesn't want to come down if there is a slight breeze. This is my 3rd T-28 from different manufacturers and this is by far my favorite.
