A Good DIY Jeep Project

This camera system was pretty easy to install and worked perfectly the first time. Install directions that come with the unit are weak but there are good YouTube videos that walk you through the whole process.

Purchase 9002-8848 instead and go to dealership

Product is good and easy to install, but I paid $130 extra so that I did not have to take this to a dealership to get the computer reset so that it would accept the back up camera. The radio programming module did not work. I called Brandmotion and they could not help me on the technical side (everything they suggested did not work). They said since I ordered it from Wal-Mart, they could not do a swap out for the radio programming module because it could have been in Wal-Marts warehouse and who knows what happens there. They told me that I would have to take the entire camera system back to Wal-Mart and ask for a refund and get a new one. That wasn't happening as I spent 4 hours installing it (it is easy once you find the YouTube videos to help you take apart a Jeep Wrangler). I told technical support that it was actually shipped by Brandmotion, and then he sent me to Customer Support. Customer Support said they were going to swap out the part for me. They were going to send me the new radio programming module, but still have not received it. I ended up going to the dealership to have the computer reprogrammed manually. After all that, the camera works, and looks good, and will be very nice for when I get new rims, but I spent $130 more than what I should have because a piece did not work. I would have just gotten the 9002-8848 instead.

Great product.....if it hadn't been defective !!

Unfortunately, there was a defective part (cable). After spending nearly 3 hours installing -- only to find out the camera did not work -- I contacted both the marketplace seller AND the manufacturer. Neither would send me a replacement part and stated I must uninstall (another 2+ hour job) and return to Walmart. Oh, and the instructions don't fully match up to how the install needs to be done. Several steps you must figured out for yourself. Would have been a great product - if it had worked. By the way, the marketplace seller that Walmart carries this product for is on the DO NOT SELL list of the manufacturer. I was told this is due to the seller swapping out returned/defective parts from new units into old ones and reselling. Perhaps that is what happened in my case.
