Jute isn’t called the Golden Fibre only for its warm pearlescent sheen. It is cost-effective and its popularity is second only to cotton. Our jute rugs are handwoven in Rangpur, Bangladesh an area famous for this craft; while only the best jute fibre, known as tossa jute, is handpicked for this endeavour. Although we comb the entire country for tossa jute, a special source comes directly from the banks of the Padma River. The fast-flowing freshwater naturally purifies the jute growing on either side of the Padma, producing the finest golden fibre imaginable.
