absolutely wonder full machine i bought this particular model back in 2005 for its 5 spinning brushes and the option of using the surge button for the extra solution dispensing when needed and the upholstery attachment. it is now may 28th 2013 and now 8 years later it has died well not dead dead the bearings in the motor went. i paid 250.00 for this machine back in 2005 and over the last 8 years i have had to buy no parts at all for it. i have cleaned carpets for other people too and some of them have just been awful and this machine was very reliable i have cleaned many many many rugs over the years with it and have made good money using it too. my machine made its rounds and then some. cleaning tip don't be afraid to run boiling water through it either gently boiled water will do just fine. as for solution its up to you nothing sudsy like pine sol or mr. clean because your floater in the dirty tank will show full because of the suds and you'll have much less water and when full you'll hear the slight high pitch sound when full. 8 long years with this machine and no problems great features and now even cost less now than it was before. going out tomorrow to buy another one of the same model. well built and does and excellent job.

I had bought three of the another leading brand shampooers and thought they were doing a good job (they each lasted about a year) my husband went and bought one of these shampooers and I thought ok we will see how this brand works. I generally get my carpet cleaned every 12-18 months, depending on when I could afford to have it done. This time I chose to buy a carpet cleaner so that I could maintain my carpets better, at a more affordable cost. I chose this particular model due to the reviews & a rebate from Hoover. This is my first experience with a carpet cleaner & I have been very satisfied with the results. Because it had been over 1 year since the last cleaning, I did my carpet twice this week to get out the dirt & stains. Each time, the used water tank held black water. The assembly of the machine went well, although the tool caddy in the back had more slots than I had accessories so it was confusing. The use of & cleaning of, the machine has gone well. Only time will tell for the continuing performance but I currently have no regrets for this purchase.
