- The Golden Fleece
- One day, Zeus brought to earth a winged ram with golden wool. The animal was sacrificed by men, and its fleece was offered to Eetes, King of Colchis, who nailed it to a sacred oak tree guarded by a dragon. Many years later, in Thessaly, a young man named Jason claimed the throne that his uncle, Pelias, had seized. Pelias agreed to give Jason back his kingdom, on the sole condition that he bring back the Golden Fleece, considered by the gods to be a talisman of power and immortality.
- Gathering the greatest Greek heroes for his expedition and forming the group of Argonauts, Jason set off for Colchis to recover the fleece, preciously guarded by Eetes. After a perilous journey strewn with pitfalls and trials, the group arrived in Colchis and met Medea, daughter of Aeetes and a powerful priestess who fell in love with Jason. Thanks to her powers, she enabled Jason to recover the golden fleece protected by the dragon and to flee the kingdom, betraying his father and killing his brother to achieve his ends.
