This book is the fictional telling of a legendary occurrence in 1912 in the little town of Hillsville, Virginia. Floyd Allen was on trial for a minor charge of obstructing justice. However, the Allens were influential and feared for their influence and their nasty tempers.
Because of this, the local law enforcement agents had made up their minds that the Allens would pay their dues for problems they had with them before. In turn, the Allens had sworn that none of their family would spend a day in their jail. It was a moment of truth for the Allens, the town of Hillsville and international headlines for the civilized world in 1912.
The story is told through the eyes of a young boy and as researched by the author through court records. It is as exciting as the Earps and the OK Corral or the Hatfield-MCcoy feud. The twists and turns of fate are evident as is so often the case in unusual events such as this.
Likely, this has only happened once in all of modern civilization.
