convenient carrier with lock

I just bought a new bike but since I'm a girl, I need something to carry my purse and maybe a few groceries if I need to stop on my way home. Softsides looked OK, but I liked this because is a hardcase and it locks. I really like the size because it stores my helmut easily. But the size is also a bit detrimental. It sits pretty far back on the rack and it sits a bit high.and definately higher than the seat. So I do knock it when I slide my leg over to mount and dismount.

Well built and good looking

The case has plastic toolbox-like folding fasteners on each side, if you don't want to use the lock. The included hardware is 4 flat brackets (approx. 1/2" wide x 6" long) with a hole at each end, and 4 philips-head machine screws, all painted black. The outer brackets are slightly wider and have threaded holes, eliminating the need for nuts. The instruction page is written in both English and German, so it must be German made. I looked for this kind of item elsewhere online, and everyone else had it for $10 more than Walmart.com, even on the major auction website. And by buying it here for store pickup I avoided additional shipping charges. The capacity is very good. To give you an idea, I made a trip to the grocery store and was able to fit a quart of milk, a dozen eggs, a loaf of bread, and a footlong deli sandwich without crushing anything, and it's long enough that I could have fit a few more small items in at the back end. The only drawback that I encountered is when the case is heavily loaded, and it's attached to a seatpost-mounted pannier rack, the weight may cause your seatpost and seat to swivel out of place when getting on, unless you've got it cinched down real good. I plan to fix mine by drilling a small 1/4" hole through the front of the frame's seatpost collar and the seatpost, all the way through the back, then installing a 1/4" bolt and nut (optional) to prevent it from ever swivelling. I don't plan on ever changing my seat height, but if you wanted to you could make multiple holes in the seatpost to make it adjustable. In that case, leave the nut off and use the bolt like a pin.

great item great to store helmet and small accs

Great to store helmet and bike pump, great for storing stuff, the handles on the side are not that great, but held in place after bike fell. every thing stayed in place. great case.
