"A Panda Is Born": They're adored around the world, but the Giant Panda's survival depends upon the fruitful reproduction of each member of the Panda species. This special presentation documents two topsy-turvy seasons of panda mating at the Smithsonian National Zoo. Female, Mei Xiang, and her mate, Tian Tian, finally succeed, resulting in the ultimate delight of a Panda birth. The new panda cub, named Tai Shan, grows into a cute and cuddly bear right before our eyes. "Baby Panda's First Year": Our cameras are once again, given exclusive access to the Giant Panda Habitat at the Smithsonian National Zoo. Follow the first year of baby Tai Shan's life and be amazed by the instincts of a first time mother. See the strapping cub's first steps and watch with wonder as he experiences his new home. We're there for all the major milestones that mark this adorable cub's first twelve months, from nibbling first bites of bamboo to taking his first dip in the panda house pool.
