Key item features

A transformational journey through Italy, India, and Bali searching for pleasure and devotion—the massive bestseller from the author of Big Magic and City of Girls.

This beautifully written, heartfelt memoir touched a nerve among both readers and reviewers. Elizabeth Gilbert tells how she made the difficult choice to leave behind all the trappings of modern American success (marriage, house in the country, career) and find, instead, what she truly wanted from life. Setting out for a year to study three different aspects of her nature amid three different cultures, Gilbert explored the art of pleasure in Italy and the art of devotion in India, and then a balance between the two on the Indonesian island of Bali. By turns rapturous and rueful, this wise and funny author (whom Booklist calls “Anne Lamott’s hip, yoga- practicing, footloose younger sister”) is poised to garner yet more adoring fans.

a helpful product

This book was about a woman who was in her 30s who was going through a divorce and decided to go on a year journey to 3 differnt cultures. Pleasure in italy, Devotion in india, and on the Indonesian Island of Bali, a balance between wordly enjoyment and dinvine transdence. The languages and voice seem to be except for in certain areas of the book everything would change on you and that is one thing i really liked about this book.

Big disappointment

OMG! This has to be the worst book I have ever read. I had to force myself to finish reading it. I can't believe the good reviews it received and Hollywood even got Julia Roberts to star in the movie. I found somebody to pass the book on to. I want it out of my house although I seriously doubt I would ever try to read it again!
