Only a short time, serves it's purpose two-fold

While we've only had and used this around a week now, first impressions are that it's sturdy and well built. It arrived in it's original sealed, thus new packaging. It's working on our landline phone as we needed: for our phone, it extends the cord on the handset out enough from the base to keep it from catching on the coiled cord in it. The swivel of course keeps the coiled cord detangled. (liked the price from the seller)
