Going into Ghost Trick, I didn't expect much. I'd seen it advertised, it looked interesting, so I picked it up and gave it a whirl. I quickly learned, however, that I was about to go for a ride into a metaphysical mystery that thoroughly entertained me from start to finish.
You play as Sissel, a guy who wakes up and has no memory of who he is and, to further compound his dilemma, he's also dead. But with death comes startling new powers and a chance to rediscover who he is and why he was killed before his soul disappears at dawn.
As a ghost, you can possess and manipulate a wide variety of different objects to help you get across the various stages. And whenever you come across another person who has met a tragic fate like yours, you can actually go back in time 4 minutes before their death to change their fate and get one step closer to learning more about who you were.
Speaking of these persons, the characters in this game are a delightful bunch, from a death-prone female detective, a lead investigator who can dance as good as Michael Jackson, and a hyper-active Pomeranian named Missile who you will absolutely fall in love with.
Back to gameplay. The puzzles will both keep you thinking on your toes and keep you thinking of new ways in which to use the objects you can possess. And the game's soundtrack absolutely fits the mood perfectly. And the story! Oh, man. The story will keep you guessing from beginning to end, my friends.
If you got a DS, I highly recommend this game. It can be a bit on the short side, but just like a good book, once you start playing it, you'll be hard pressed to put this game down until you finish it and solve the mystery that is you.
