I wish I purchased this a long time ago. Our backyard doesn't have a light switch in the house. We have plug in lights plugged in outside that we have to plug in and out when needed. We also don't have a back door only a side door. We let our dog out all the time and at night we have to use a flashlight very annoying. So this remote is a lifesaver for us! I plugged it in to the outlet and then plugged in the lights I wanted to light up. All we need to do is push the button for the light by the window and the light goes on and off. Now our dog has the whole yard lit up. I highly recommend.
