Suggested use To Prepare Wash & Soak- Wash beans, place in a bowl with 3'' of water above the beans. Soak 6 to 8 hours or overnight. Discard soaking water. Or Place in pot with 3" of water above beans, bring to a boil, turn off heat, cover, and let sit 1 1/2 hours. Discard soak water, or use to water plants. Cook in a heavy pot 3 cups water to 1 cup soaked beans. Bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, simmer until tender, add water to cover beans as needed. Note: 1/2 cup dry beans = 1 1/2 cups cooked.
Love These
These are very tasty Garbanzo beans. They provide me with the protein I need and are high quality. I didn't find any beans that were bad. Also, when I test my glucose level in the morning, after having these for supper the previous evening, it is right where it should be.
The best I have found!
Only buy beans if they're of the Eden Foods dried variety! Amazing quality - pretty much never get a bad bean in the whole box. Nor have I had any experience yet with holes or pests. All other dried organic chickpeas I have had to throw away loads because they were duds or because they had weevils in them or weevil damage. Yuck! Not bad that with these. They cook up tender and creamy and cook faster than other beans in my experience. Like that they come in minimal plastic - just the little window, which isn't necessary perhaps but customers generally prefer this. FYI - the quick soaking thing thing doesn't really work out with the chickpeas. I do it with their black beans but with these, they'll remain a bit hard in the middle, even if I “quick soak” for longer than the stated time. Yesterday I followed the quick soak method but left it for a couple more hours, knowing that the 1-5hrs isn't enough, and this still wasn't enough. So really, these are best when you leave them to soak overnight - then they're just perfect!
