Since Iona Brown was appointed Director of the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, she has built its reputation as a world-class ensemble. In Music for Strings, she leads the orchestra again to mastery in works by Norwegian Edvard Grieg and Dane Carl Nielsen, eminent 19th and 20th century romantic composers. Like Nielsen, Iona started as a violinist; perhaps that is why her interpretation of his works has such depth. These performances stand out as preeminent readings of these compositions.
