Stephen King does not like most of the screen adaptations of his work. I hope he makes an exception for this 49-year-old terror classic. Directed by Brian DePalma and centered with an exceptional performance by Sissy Spacek, CARRIE is a movie about bullying in which the shocking payoff will have viewers gasping in horror and perhaps secretly cheering as the people who tortured the sweet title character are slaughtered and incinerated by her fully developed telekinetic powers. DePalma delivers all along the way, but once the movie gets to the prom, it slips into overdrive. Great supporting work by Amy Irving and Piper Laurie. A very first characterization by John Travolta in a small part as Carrie's chief antagonist's hoodlum boyfriend. NOT FOR EVERYONE, but one of the greatest horror films of all time.

2013 Carrie dvd review

First off, if you can find the Blu-ray DVD edition in your price range BUY IT ! I am seeing movies I have that I wish now that I had paid a bit more for Blu-ray DVD. I did not see it in the movie theatre but wanted to see how it compared to the first one. This one Carrie seems to use her hands more than the original but it brought back bad feelings of high school bullying. But she does get revenge. I am glad I have this movie in my DVD in my collection.
