Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power, and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

great book! definitley recommend reading!

I just finished reading this book and I would definitely recommend reading it. It is one of those stories that stays with you after reading it. I read it in two days and I can't wait for the next one. If you like the Twi Light series, Immortal or The House Of Night series you will like this book. Definitley worth reading!

Twighlight Fans Meet Your New Favorite Series

With the best regards to Stephanie Meyers and Her Twilight Saga... I think she has just met her match with Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. Although this book may not capture Tweens, as well as Twilight did, I think the at the two authors have successfully brought their small southern town of Gatlin County alive in this Romantic/ Sci-Fi Thriller. Their plot is very well thought out- a little confusing at times but that's part of what keeps you guessing. I felt that all of their characters, though seemingly simple minded, were actually complex and well drawn out. Their story starts with Ethan Wate, a sixteen year old sophmore, who can't wait to get out of his small town in which he has lived his entire life. But strange dreams have started plaguing him shortly after his mother dies. There is a girl, but he can't see her face, she's slipping from him as he tries to hold onto her and his nails dig into her wrist. When he wakes... there's dirt under his fingernails... and the smell of lemons and rosemary? This story is utterly captivating and I encourage all- who love a good Supernatural, Mystery, and slight Romance- to read this wonderful book.

Loved the book. I couldnt put it down. Will for sure connect with teens that are coming into their own and not following the herd of the "popular crowd" The book shows to stand up and fight for what you believe in and LOVE no matter what the cost.
