Religion and the State

Religion plays a major role in the origin and development of numerous civilizations throughout the world. Many governments have used a sacred text as a source of guidance to create laws and policies, using religious values as inspiration to develop their version of an ideal society. Yet as religions underwent numerous revolutions and factions splintered and clashed, many started questioning the role of religion in government.
