We use the UPS unit as a backup power source for our each of the computers in our small office. We are located in a rural area where power levels are not always consistent, so besides being a backup in times of outages, the units protect our equipment from power variations. Although we don't use the unique feature of a few outlets with the capability of shutting down non-essential equipment when not in use, it's nice that it's available. If a user doesn't pay attention to how those particular energy-saving outlets work, they may be disappointed when an essential piece of equipment shuts down during the workday (when they go out to lunch, for instance).

I bought this to protect an expensive computer. It came with simple set up instructions, and registering the warranty was also very easy to do. I absolutely love the fact that I now have 8 outlets available to me at my desk instead of the two outlets I was dealing with before. I have easy access to my computer, desk lamp and several phone/ipod chargers without having to crawl around on the floor to find the wall outlet. I bought this towards the end of June and it has already proven itself when it comes to protecting my computer. My house has poor electrical wiring so sometimes someone using the vacuum in the hallway will create a surge. The power surged and everything at my desk remained perfectly intact and continued running. I am very happy with this product!
